如果去不了墨西哥，不妨来湖南博物院的“墨西哥古代文明展”一同体验跨越时空的墨西哥古代文明！

If you can't go to Mexico, why not savor a taste of the "Descendants of the Jaguar: The Exhibition of Ancient Mexican Civilizations" to experience the ancient Mexican civilization that transcends time and space at the Hunan Museum?

古墨西哥作为人类文明重要发祥地之一，曾孕育出已知最古老的美洲文明——奥尔梅克文化、玛雅文化等古代重要文明。从那时起，就已开始流传将美洲豹与人联系起来的神话传说。

As one of the significant cradles of human civilization, ancient Mexico gave rise to renowned civilizations such as the Olmec Culture and Mayan Culture. It was during this time that myths and legends intertwining humans and jaguars began to circulate.

如同国人对于龙、凤图腾的喜爱与崇拜，在古墨西哥人的信仰中，美洲豹崇拜占据着重要地位。

Just as the Chinese people hold a deep admiration and reverence for dragon and phoenix totems, the worship of jaguars held a vital place in the beliefs of ancient Mexicans.

这里的很多文物如“王子”豹人石雕、豹人玉雕等，虽呈人型，但其豹兽般的坐姿、置身于身后的尾巴等，无疑是将人与美洲豹融合的典型代表。

Many artifacts, such as the stone carving of the "Jaguar Prince"and the jade carving of the Were-jaguar. Humanoid forms fuse with the seated posture of a jaguar, as well as the tail behind it is undoubtedly a typical fusion of humans and jaguars.

而“王子”化身成美洲豹的宗教愿望，是人们对美洲豹崇拜与敬畏的体现。

Viewing the jaguar stoned carving as the divine embodiment of the "Prince" reflects people's deep reverence and adoration for this majestic creature.

“玉米掉下来的每一颗颗粒都会被美洲豹守护”，古墨西哥人的观念中，土地、水也和美洲豹存在密切的联系。

In the ancient Mexican culture, "every grain of corn that falls is guarded by the jaguar," and there is a close connection between the land, water, and the jaguar.

比如这座豹人首，头顶中间有V形沟壑，是寓意水流入玉米田所需的犁沟；而脸呈方形，则代表玉米田；眼睛上的变形“十”字纹寓意肥沃的玉米地。

For example, the stone carving of the jaguar head has a V-shaped groove in the middle of the top, symbolizing the furrow required for water to flow into the cornfield. The square face represents the cornfield, and the "plus sign "pattern on the eyes symbolizes a fertile cornfield.

Besides the jaguar, the Maya Maize God and Tlaloc (Aztec Rain God) are also important totems for ancient Mexicans to pray for the blessings of the land.

The magnificent designs, exquisite carving craftsmanship, and mysterious yet fascinating ancient Mexican civilization will be showcased at the Hunan Museum until Sept.17th, featuring 154 pieces (sets) of exquisite artifacts centered around the jaguar.
