一口银针，十个玉指，百束丝线，绣出万物芳华，这就是指尖艺术湘绣的魅力。

A single needle, ten fingers, and hundreds of silk threads can uncover beauty in everything, which is the charm of the fingertip art in Xiang embroidery.

湘绣传承人江再红。

湘绣是中国四大名绣之一，历史悠久，可追溯到两千多年前的春秋战国时期。湘绣在发展的过程中吸取了苏绣、粤绣等其他绣种的优点，以着色富于层次、绣品若画为特点，逐渐形成了独特风格的刺绣体系。

Xiang embroidery is one of the four famous embroideries in China, with a long history that can be traced back over two thousand years to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. 

Xiang embroidery has learnt from other embroideries such as Su Embroidery and Yue Embroidery in its development. Featuring rich layered colors and picturesque artworks, Xiang embroidery has gradually formed its unique style.

湘绣中令人称奇的全异绣，此类绣品的两面图案完全不同。

湘绣以针为笔，以线绘色，它之所以能区别于其他绣种的关键，就是一个真字，正所谓“绣花能生香，绣鸟能听声，绣虎能奔跑，绣人能传神”。

Xiang embroidery uses needle as brush and thread as pigment. The key to distinguish Xiang embroidery from other types lies in its authentic character. 

As the saying goes, “An embroidered flower seems to be fragrant, an embroidered bird seems to be chirping, an embroidered tiger seems to be running and an embroidered figure seems to have vivid expressions.”

湘绣针法鬅毛针可以让绣出的老虎毛发根根分明。

在湘绣的一百多种针法之中，鬅毛针最是传神。这种针法让绣出来的狮虎等猛兽毛发刚劲，栩栩如生。

Among hundreds of stitching techniques, Pengmao(fluffy stitching) is the most unique one. It ensures a three-dimensional effect of threads like fur and enables the animals like tigers and lions to look more vivid.

2006年，湘绣入选第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录。一幅幅湘绣作品的背后，是每一位绣艺师时间与精力的双重付出，也是传承传统手艺的最好例证。未来，湘绣将乘着创新和发展的翅膀，永远焕发青春与活力。

In 2006, Xiang embroidery was listed among the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Behind these embroidered artworks, every artist puts in lots of time and energy and is also the best example of inheriting traditional craftsmanship. 

In the future, Xiang embroidery will always ride on the wings of innovation and development to keep glowing with youth and vitality.
