早年经历:1946年生于湖南长沙,曾为乡村小学教师,在偏远山村任教6年。这段经历让她深深爱上泥土、农事与民间智慧。

Early years: Born in Changsha, Hunan,China (1946). Worked as a rural teacher for six years – an experience that deeply connected her to the land, farming, and folk wisdom.

编辑生涯:1982年进入湖南少年儿童出版社,任美术编辑室主任。编辑出版了《牛王节》《贝贝流浪记》等获奖作品,发掘了大量本土创作者。

Editing career: Joined Hunan Juvenile & Children’s Publishing House (1982) as head of the art editorial department. Edited award winning books such as The Festival of the Bull King, The Wanderings of Beibei the Kitten,  and mentored many local creators.

创作生涯:退休后迎来创作高峰,将童年记忆、乡村生活与中国古典文学、民间故事融为一体。

Creative career: After retirement, she entered a prolific phase, blending childhood memories, rural life, classical Chinese literature and folk tales.

称号:被孩子们亲切称为“绘本奶奶”。2026年荣获国际安徒生奖插画家奖,成为该奖设立60年来首位中国获奖者。

Title: Affectionately called “Grandma of Picture Books” by children. In 2026, she became the first Chinese winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration.

故事:从宝宝在妈妈肚子里的视角,讲述从受孕到出生的全过程。采用双线叙事:一条是婴儿的成长,另一条是外婆(蔡皋)对生命意义的感悟。

A baby’s journey from conception to birth, told from inside the womb. Double narrative: baby’s growth + grandmother’s reflections.

故事:以一个小女孩的视角,重现1938年长沙“文夕大火”——一座千年古城在五天五夜中被焚毁。她看见了大火前长沙的繁华,也见证了大火后古城的苍凉,却又在黑白的底色之中,生长出“生”的顽强,和希望。正面黑白素描像一部黑白无声电影传达大火的场景,后半部铅笔淡彩展现普通百姓美丽温暖的各种生活。

A girl’s view of the 1938 “Wenxi Fire” that destroyed Changsha for five days and nights. Black-and-white sketches give way to soft color, showing resilience and hope.

故事:改编自长沙传统童谣。孩子和月亮一起走,走过田野、小桥、村庄。月亮去哪儿,孩子就去哪儿。一首简短、循环、充满节奏感的睡前歌谣。

故事:另一首长沙经典童谣。“月亮粑粑,肚里坐个爹爹……”孩子望着月亮,想象月亮里住着老爷爷、桂花树、玉兔。每一页都是孩子对月亮的奇妙猜想。
