Editor notes: The increasing number of people, not only domestic tourists but also foreigners from other countries, has been attracted by Hunan's charming natural scenery, delicious local snacks, special night market, countless Internet-famous sites, a time-honored history and rich culture. Denis, who comes from America, is one of them. He came here about five years ago and decided to stay here for a while. He wants to share everything which he experienced in Hunan and also provides a new way for us to know our hometown.

近日,老夏开启了一场“金灿灿”的吃虫之旅!

Recently, Denis embarked on a "golden" journey of bugs eating!

当老夏的朋友们还在害怕入口时,老夏已经一口一个烤蝎子,吃得嘎嘣脆了。

While his friends are still hesitant, Denis is already munching on crispy roasted scorpions.

油炸昆虫作为一种别具特色的美食小吃,近年来在全球范围内逐渐受到关注和喜爱。它被认为是一种富含蛋白质,同时脂肪含量相对较低的健康零食。

Deep-fried bugs, as a distinctive delicacy, have gained increasing attention and popularity worldwide in recent years. They are considered healthy snacks rich in protein and relatively low in fat.

这种独特的美食以各种昆虫为主要原料,如蝗虫、蚕蛹、蜂蛹、蚂蚱等。经过严格的挑选和处理后,昆虫会被投入预热的油锅中,迅速炸至金黄酥脆。

This unique cuisine features various bugs as the main ingredients, such as locusts, silk worms, bee pupae, grasshoppers, and more. After strict selection and processing, the bugs are thrown into preheated oil and quickly fried to a golden and crispy perfection.

有些昆虫带有坚果般的香脆口感,而有些则带有嫩滑多汁的质感,烹调师还会添加多种香料和调味料,赋予其诱人的香气和口感。

吃昆虫在我国也是一种传统的食物文化。早在先秦时期,不少虫子已成为人们的盘中餐。据《周礼》记载,当时用蚂蚁卵做的蚁子酱,是专供王室享用的肉酱之一。而蝉、蜂等昆虫,也是贵族阶层颇为喜欢的美食。

Eating bugs is a traditional food culture in China. In the pre-Qin period, many bugs were already part of people's meals. According to the "Rites of Zhou," ant eggs were used to make a sauce exclusively enjoyed by the royal family. Cicadas, bees, and other insects were also favored delicacies among the noble class.
