编者按：迷人的风景、醉人的美食、独特的夜经济、众多的网红打卡点，深厚的文化底蕴……对湖南的热情与向往早就不仅于国内，越来越多的外国人也闻名而来。来自美国的老夏（Denis）就是其中一个。他不仅来了，还爱上了这里，留在了这里。作为一个在长沙生活了五年的外国人，他开始用视频记录这里的一切，不仅让更多的外国友人了解湖南，也给我们了解湖南提供了一个全新的视角。

Editor notes: The increasing number of people, not only domestic tourists but also foreigners from other countries, has been attracted by Hunan's charming natural scenery, delicious local snacks, special night market, countless Internet-famous sites, a time-honored history and rich culture. Denis, who comes from America, is one of them. He came here about five years ago and decided to stay here for a while. He wants to share everything which he experienced in Hunan and also provides a new way for us to know our hometown.

时光荏苒，光阴似箭。

The time zips by, and flies like an arrow.

你是否还记得初次步入大学校园时怀着怎样的心情？

Do you still remember how you felt when you first entered the university campus?

欣喜、兴奋，亦或是彷徨、无措？

Joyful, excited, or hesitant, at a loss?

9月，05后们迎来了大学生开学季，他们当中有的独自一人拉着行李迈入大学校门，有的在和家人、朋友的欢声笑语中来到了校园，而有的甚至跨越了山海，奔赴心之所向。

In September, students born in 2005 ushered in the first semester of university. Some of them just walked into the university alone with their luggage, some came to the university, laughter with their family and friends, and some even crossed the mountains and seas to go where their heart leads.

老夏作为长沙学院的外教，几乎每年都会自发帮助新生们搬运行李。他说，他真的想为初入大学的学生们提供一些温暖，而这也是一次和可爱的学生们快速熟悉的好机会。

As a foreign teacher at Changsha University, Denis spontaneously helps freshmen carry their luggage almost every year. He said that he really wanted to provide some warmth to the students who were new to the university, and this was also a good opportunity to get acquainted with the lovely students quickly.

这不，他又穿上了印有“免费托运”字样的服装，骑着他的电动小摩托帮助新生们一趟趟运送着包裹和行李。来自不同学院的高年级志愿者们，也热心帮忙迎新。

Look! he was wearing cloth again which painted with “Free carrying” and was riding his electric scooter to help the freshmen transport packages and luggage from one trip to another. Senior volunteers from different faculties also enthusiastically helped to welcome the freshmen.

新生中不乏有人从沿海城市远道而来，感叹着湖南“热情似火”的天气堪比家乡海南。在老夏奔放、热情地迎新方式下，原本羞涩内向的学生们也渐渐敞开心扉，加入了与老夏的互动当中。甚至有学生当场立下新学期的“第一面Flag”——学好英语！

Many of the freshmen came all the way from coastal cities and lamented that the “hot” weather in Hunan is comparable to that of their hometown of Hainan. Under Denis’s unrestrained and enthusiastic way of welcoming the freshmen, the originally shy and introverted students gradually opened their hearts and joined in the interaction with Denis. Some students even set the “first flag” of the new semester -- learn English well!  

老夏说，也感谢这些学生，让自己能够继续“被需要”，继续“元气满满”。

Denis said that I also appreciate these students for allowing me to continue to “be needed” and “full of energy.” 

大学是思想碰撞的殿堂、是梦想绽放的起点。愿新生们在崭新的起跑线上，开拓思想、在知识的海洋中扬帆远航，踏上绚丽多彩的大学里程！

University is a palace where ideas collide and the beginning of dreams to bloom. May the freshmen, at the beginning of this fresh starting line, explore their thoughts, set sail in the ocean of knowledge, and embark on a colorful journey in university!
